Hi everyone, Jacob Pugh here, and I'm running for City Council, Place 3. Thank you for the opportunity to share a little about myself.
My wife, Stacy, and I have been married for 26 years, and we chose to make Vestavia Hills our home 15 years ago. We've lived in the same house ever since and raised our two daughters through the Vestavia Hills school system.
Civic service has always been a cornerstone of how we raise our family, treat others, and serve our community. I’ve served on the Board of Directors for the Vestavia Hills Police Foundation, am an active member of the Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary Club and am a graduate of Leadership Vestavia Hills. Over the years, I’ve participated in numerous service projects—from putting up Christmas lights to supporting and honoring our first responders.
I’m also a local business owner and entrepreneur who deeply loves this city. I want to take that passion for service to the next level as a member of the City Council. If elected, here’s my commitment to you:
I’m committed to driving smart economic growth that increases tax revenue without raising taxes on our citizens. This includes attracting businesses that meet the needs of our community and align with our values. To fund the public amenities our residents want—like sidewalks, green spaces, and recreational facilities—we need sustainable growth. I fully support City Manager Jeff Downes, who has done an outstanding job, and I will offer honest feedback and proactive support to continue bringing thoughtful development to Vestavia Hills. .
No candidate understands the importance of public safety better than I do. As a former
Hoover police officer, I’ve served our law enforcement both in uniform and as a community advocate. I’ve worked with the Vestavia Hills Police Foundation and played a key role in organizing its first Signature Event honoring Jabo Waggoner. Through my Rotary Club involvement, I also sponsor and participate in the annual First Responders Celebration. Vestavia Hills is served by the finest police and fire departments in Alabama, and I will ensure they have the resources and support needed to maintain their excellence.
Both of my daughters are proud VHHS graduates and are thriving in college, thanks to the strong foundation they received here. I want to ensure every family continues to experience that same pride. That means supporting strong schools while also ensuring the school board reflects the entire community. We must hold leadership accountable for prudent spending of tax dollars and ensure that appointees listen to and implement the needs of stakeholders. I will do my part in promoting transparent, responsive school governance.
We are running a grassroots campaign and every dollar raised will help us get our message out.
